Zoom

a collection of short works

I sit and stare with dread - a sonnet

I sit and stare with dread at the empty screen

Waiting to be admitted to the room.

This could have been an email's all I mean,

But we were called to meet in here by Zoom.

As each appears, the manager presides

With stern face and a power point at hand

She soon begins her rant and all derides

And with great smugness makes her grand demand.

"Our numbers down!" She shouts with great alarm,

And shows us all the facts upon a chart.

"You must all do your best as not to harm

This company so dearest to my heart."

And on and on she scolded as I wrote

My resignation on a post-it note.
